First called “Karukera” by the Arawaks (first inhabitants) which means “the island of beautiful waters”, Guadeloupe really deserves this name…

Located in the French West Indies, blowed by trade winds, its magnificent beaches lovingly lapped by the waves, its sea that never drops below 25C°, that’s Guadeloupe!

With its surrounding islands (Les Saintes, Marie-Galante, la Désirade and Petite Terre) Guadeloupe is an archipelago. The main islands, also called “the Continent” by local people, are composed of Basse Terre and Grande Terre. Even if they are very close to each other, they are geologically different.

In Basse Terre you will find the National Park, rain forest, an active volcano (la Souffrière, 1,467m high) black sand beaches, rivers and waterfalls.

Grande Terre is famous for its turquoise lagoons, its coral reefs, its wonderful white sand beaches, its fishes and shells…
